The Crookston boys hockey team remained unbeaten so far in the 2025-26 season with a 3-3 tie at home Friday night and a 6-4 win at Bagley Monday night.
Garrett Fischer broke a scoreless tie with the first of his two goals Friday night 3:28 into the second period. Greyson Ecker scored just under three minutes later to make it 2-0 Pirates. Jay Reese and Tate Hamre assisted on both first-period goals by the Pirates.
The Royals got on the board with a goal by Kirill Udalstov a minute and a half into the third period.
The Pirates responded three minutes later with Fischer’s second goal of the night to make it 3-1.
The Royals got back into the game with a goal by William Hoiska midway through the third period. The Royals pulled goalie Dylan Lindstrom in the final minute of the game and the decision paid off, when William Moseley scored with nine seconds remaining.
The Royals outshot the Pirates 5-2 in the overtime frame, but shooting edge over the course of the night favored the Pirates 48-40.
The Pirates were back in action Monday night with a trip to Bagley to face the Bagley/Fosston Flyers.
The Pirates took a 4-1 lead through one period of play and held off a late rally by the Flyers for a 6-4 win.
Scoring goals for the Pirates were Cody Demarais, Ecker (2), Rowan Beniot, Liam Larson and Jay Reese. Recording assists for the Pirates were Dylan Larson, Reese and Fischer (2).
