Crookston – Geraldine Marion Newquist, 91, of Crookston, passed away on November 14, 2025, at the Benedictine Living Center with her loving family by her side.
Geraldine was born on August 5, 1934, in Clearbrook, to Carl Hansen and Inga Melhus Hansen. She attended Clearbrook High School, where she graduated in 1952 before attending nursing school in Crookston. Geraldine worked as a nurse for over 40 years.
When she was not working, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with friends. She loved taking trips to the casino and enjoyed her trips with the Golden Link Senior Center.
When she was younger, she especially enjoyed taking camping trips with her family. She loved all animals, especially her cat Fritz.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard Allen Newquist; son, Randy Newquist; siblings, Glen Hansen, Arlyce Anderson, and Richard Hansen.
Geraldine is survived by her children, Anthony (Polly) Newquist, James (Marti) Newquist, Daniel (Lori) Newquist, David (Kathy) Newquist, Kathy (Tom) Mix, Lisa (Kurtis) Boe; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother, David Hansen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Geraldine’s family will celebrate her life with a memorial service on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. from the chapel at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
A committal service will take place at Oakdale Cemetery following the
service.
